Good Neighbour Program

Baytex Energy’s Good Neighbour program is a company-wide program that focuses on being a welcomed neighbour in the communities in which we operate. Good Neighbour is a code that Baytex employees and contractors will follow and reflects our core values of:

Baytex Energy Good Neighbor Wheel

Good Neighbour encourages consistent and meaningful communication between Baytex's community of employees, managers, suppliers and contractors and the communities in which we operate in. The program encourages communities to get involved and hold us accountable for the behaviours of our employees. Open lines of communication between us and our stakeholders are critical to the success of the program.

At its core, the program strives to provide social and economic benefits to the community while mitigating our impacts related to traffic, noise, dust, garbage, wildlife and gates.

All Baytex employees and contractors will:

Maintain a respectful and collaborative relationship with company stakeholders at all times.

Follow all speed limits and road rules, while using only designated access roads. When passing through residential areas, drivers will limit their speed even further.

Monitor operational noise levels, while avoiding louder activities during early morning and evening hours. Drivers will monitor the use of retarder brakes and all employees will shut off equipment when not in use.

Maintain a lower speed on dirt or gravel roads, especially in residential areas. When appropriate, employees will utilize dust suppression techniques near homes

Minimize waste and ensure that all waste is properly removed from any work site. Employees will not litter and all materials will be properly secured to each truck to limit the possibility of falling off

Watch for wildlife and wildlife warning signs whenever they are driving.

Discuss the opening and closing of gates with land owners prior to any activity.

Managing odours from our day to day operations.
